FULL INTERIOR CONCEPT

From the first groundbreaking to the final piece of furniture. When Akea was looking for a new property, much of the focus was on finding the right location. In the end, the best solution was to build a new property. We were involved throughout the entire process, working closely with Akea to shape the interior and design of the building. From space planning, material selections and interior concepts to the finer details and furniture delivery, we have worked with the project as a whole, leaving no square metre to chance.

The interior concept is based on a calm and understated palette of earthy brown tones contrasted with black accents. To ensure that Akea’s identity is reflected throughout the interior, we worked with wood, Corten steel and corrugated sheet metal. These materials add warmth and character while creating a subtle connection to the company’s business. In the meeting rooms, the corrugated sheet metal takes centre stage, covering the walls and giving the spaces a distinct expression. Together with black details and neon, it creates a more raw character, while the greenery provides a softer counterpoint that balances the materials and brings the overall design together.

With a large space and many different aspects of the business to accommodate, much of the planning focused on creating a natural flow throughout the office. Individual offices and open-plan workspaces are complemented by social areas that serve as important meeting places for both employees and visitors.

The choice of materials helps define the different areas of the office while reflecting Akea as a company. Wood is a recurring element, conveying the stability and longevity we associate with Akea. In the reception area, the wood meets the existing concrete floor, which we chose to highlight by polishing the surface and revealing the aggregate. An honest and robust first impression of Akea and its business.

From the reception, the large staircase leads further up through the building. Clad in lush greenery, it connects the two floors and has become an integral part of the interior – one of the elements we are particularly proud of.

One floor up is the Food Court, the heart of the office and a natural hub for the entire workplace. It is a place to meet over lunch and coffee, but also for the spontaneous conversations in between. The interior is almost entirely in wood, creating the warmer atmosphere we were looking for – a place to pause and recharge during the working day.

Throughout the project, we have worked with the overall experience, from the bigger picture down to the smallest details, to create an office that feels distinctly Akea and works for the people who use it every day.
